Happy Birthday to Me

Dec. 17th, 2005 | 08:36 pm
mood: frustratedfrustrated

Well I'm officially 23...no big deal this year either.

I can't be happier that school is over with for a while. I ended up with 2 A's and 2 B's...a pleasant surprise. Only two more classes to finish!

The HOLYdays are upon us! I always feel weird around them. I like them, but I don't really like them. Superficiality is depressing, and that's what the economy relies on.

I am desperately trying to figure out how to make an apple martini. What does "part" mean? I'm just ready to pour a bunch of stuff in a glass and call it day.

Dust out those cobwebs

Dec. 1st, 2005 | 08:36 pm

Does anyone happen to recall the movie version of Return to Oz starring a young Fairuza Balk? Just curious, WICKED has got me questioning some of the old Oz mythology.

It's finally over

It officially took me exactly one week to read WICKED...and that was mostly because those annoying things called class and school got in the way.

I'm ecstatic to say that I got an 85 on my first submission of the monstrousity that was my 20page research paper. Just need to revise his markings and return that sucker back in and hope for a shiny new A.

This weekend, Im braving the xmas lights. I really have my eye set on one of those gigantic blow up penguins to go with my santa....but, it may be a bit much. The tree is already up. Silver fiber optic with Harry Potter and Betty Boop ornaments...it's tacky in all the right ways.

HARRY POTTER and the Goblet of Fire

(need I say more?)

except that it really annoyed me that I had no idea it was coming out this soon. I found out Friday, and went to see it Sunday eve. So sparatic. It was awesome. My favorite to date.

In other news: reading WICKED, finally. I've only read the prologue thus far. Interesting. There is a sequel too?

Well, happy Turkey, or Tofurkey day peeps!

Today was my first driving experiece in Atlanta. It wasn't as bad as I thought, now I just need to know more about the layout of the city. It was crazy getting to the High Museum. At least I got there before the bikers went down Peachtree.

The museum was awesome. They are remodeling for some new re-opening next month.

Last week, a dear old PSYCHOTIC friend of mine paid a visit to my place of employment. There are better ways of getting my attention without stalking about in front of me. Sheesh.

really good book

The Taking by Dean Koontz.  I recommend it.  Now I know why I've always preffered dogs over cats.  Now I'm in the mood for a classic.  Probably with a feminine voice...maybe Sylvia Plath again, or some Dickenson poems, or something.  I'm really excited about the new rendition of Pride and Prejudice, but I could hardly get through that book the first time.

Went to see The Corpse Bride today.  It was magnificent.

Not much to post about

Sep. 15th, 2005 | 08:18 pm

Yeah, there is way too much going on right now for me to be posting about how annoyingly depressed I am. LOL.

Tests are coming almost every day it feels, but at least I'm doing pretty good on them. I'm officially tired of all the music the world has put out. It all just does't fit me right now. There are too many cool tv series coming on this Fall that I'm sure will not stay on the air for long.

I only have 19 more pages of that big 20-page research paper to write. I figure a page a week will make the end of the semester flow easier. The subject has had to change from Japanese television to cinema. It appears that no "academics" care to write on the subject. Hopefully, this just won't turn into a Ode to Kurosawa and his effects on modern-day Japan.

Just another tedious week passing by.  I've spoken with a friend of mine about a job at the Weather Channel.  I really would like to take it, but it's in Marietta, and I would have to be at work at 5:30 or 6 o'clock in the morning.  But it is Broadcast Op's, and I'd really rather be doing that than working in retail for the rest of my life.

I really need to catch up on my American art homework this weekend...thanks for the 3-day weekend!!!  I might actually be able to watch the new Samurai 7 anime.  Gasp.

Ok, about this Hurricane... why has no one mentioned Anne Rice?!  And, really, why is everyone they show on the news just standing around and talking????  If something really bad happens, it's up to YOU to get the sh*t back in order.  It seems to me that they're waiting for their illustrious state officials, and albeit, the Bush administration to come in and "makeover their cribs".  Which I'm sure will happen in due time.  This just proves the whole theory that modern day people are becoming cattle.

Someone told me long ago that Depeche Mode would never write music together again. I'm pretty glad they lied, because the new single is awesome!!!!

My first week of school is almost over. My classes are indeed long... three hours in fact. At least they're almost over.

Nothing really exciting really happening here. I've been playing around with my hair again. oops! ;} But I really like this new product I've found.

Can you believe that I haven't bought a cd since Royksopp came out?! That's really a record for me. iTunes is really spoiling me.

The series finale of Six Feet Under was great (of course, Alan Ball wrote and directed it).

Random Crunchiness

Work is really getting me down. I've never disliked being there so much. It's really annoying.

I totally went out to school the other day to buy books for class, which starts in 2 weeks, and they didn't even have any of the books yet. There's always amazon.com! I think we are required more films this year than textbooks. Right on!

I've finally gotten addicted to Angel Sanctuary. First, Sabrina tries to get me to watch the anime last fall. Then J'mecia from work lets me borrow the first two. Granted, I was confused all the way through #1, but #2 was really good. It's like a interesting twist on all this angel war folklore. lol.

** Six Feet Under and QAF are almost at the end**

Geneon studios has announced that they are working on a more true-to-the-manga series under the production of K. Harano. Unlike the original series from 2001, this will focus on the stuggles between the Hellsing agency and Millenium.

Ok, seriously, I walked to the mailbox today and came back soaking wet. That's just wrong!

Went to Tower Records yesterday for the new Royksopp, which was definately worth it. Found that, along with everything else I was looking for...including one of those minatures from Final Fantasy. Now is embraced in battle with Count Alucard (Hellsing) and the artsy girl on a lime-green ottoman (Appleseed). It serves no point, but it looks good.

With that trip to Atlanta, I've finally decided against living in the city..or at least that one. I wonder what caused me to change my mind?

I was just browsing through the Showtime website, and found this:

Masters of Horror

This is really awesome, as long as...well, you know.  I haven't seen anything from Stuart Gordon since all those HP Lovecraft movies with Brian Yuzna and that movie Dolls.
